The COPE inventory is comprised of 15 four-item scales that assess a variety of coping strate-gies. Using the dispositional response format, participants indicated how frequently they used each coping strategy on a four-point scale anchored by ‘‘usually do not do this at all’’ and ‘‘usu-ally do this a lot’’. The inventory is a list of statements that participants review and score. There are two main components to the COPE inventory: problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping.
